Facilities Maintenance Tech at Minnesota Children's Museum

    This position is a key member of the Museum’s Facilities Team responsible for general maintenance of the Museum. Primary responsibility is to assist in managing the Museum’s building, grounds, exhibits, furniture and fixtures. Responsibilities include general building repairs and maintenance activities for the building and exhibits. This position key back-up and on call support for facility emergencies. 

    This position must have flexibility to meet needs of Museum hours and events.  Primary hours are second shift.  Every other weekend required.

     

     

     Major Job Accountabilities 

    • Assist in maintaining all building and exhibit spaces.  Inspect spaces as assigned and perform scheduled maintenance.

    • Monitor building systems: assist in system maintenance regimes and checks, trouble shoot problem

    • Coordinate meeting and program room furniture set-up and inventory of these supplies

    • Perform and support grounds keeping efforts

    • Support Facilities Manager in work with various contractor and vendors involved in Museum maintenance

    • Be critical back-up in absence of Facilities Manager and Housekeeping Lead

    • As needed lead maintenance teams in special projects and daily maintenance activities

      

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    •  High school diploma or equivalent and previous maintenance experience is desired
    • Two years of experience working in a facilities capacity, trade or related field

    • Competency in basic computer skills, Microsoft Windows products and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred

    • Solid knowledge of general maintenance and repairs.

    • Experience in HVAC, plumbing and electrical.

    • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

    • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills

    • Ability to collaborate with people at all levels of an organization and communicate effectively

    • Ability to work in an organized manner in a fast-paced changing environment

    • Ability to lift heavy objects of 50 lbs. or more on an occasional basis.
